Speed limit lowered on section of West Hundred Road

Chesterfield County Police are urging drivers to be aware of a speed limit change on West Hundred Road in Chester.

The speed limit on West Hundred Road from east of its intersection with Osborne Road to its intersection with Jefferson Davis Highway is now 35 mph.

Previously, the speed limit on this stretch of road was 45 mph.

Police plan to step up patrols in this area on Friday, Feb. 22. Police are reminding drivers to always be aware of and abide by the posted speed limit.

Reminder: Inoperable traffic light = four way stop

Due to the widespread power outages caused by Hurricane Irene, drivers should be reminded that an intersection with inoperable traffic lights should be treated as a four-way stop.

When arriving at an intersection with inoperable traffic lights, stop, look for oncoming traffic and proceed when it is safe to do so. If you arrive at an intersection at the same time as another driver, the driver to the right has the right of way.

Reminder: Toll increase on I-895 tomorrow

Pocahontas 895 is implementing a scheduled toll price increase beginning on Monday, February 7. Two-axle passenger vehicles passing through the Main Plaza will pay an extra quarter, but only during morning and afternoon commute times – between the hours of 6 and 9 a.m., and 3 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tolls will remain the same, however, for two-axle vehicles traveling outside of weekday commute times, and on weekends.

“We hope that limiting the toll increase to only part of the day will make it a little easier for our customers, and give them some flexibility to travel on Pocahontas 895 at a lower rate as their schedules may permit,” said Kevin Longenbach, vice president of operations and development for Transurban, which manages Pocahontas 895.
