Police charge 3 suspects in commercial burglaries

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- Police have charged three suspects in relation to a string of commercial burglaries in Hopewell and Chesterfield.

Steve Thompson has been charged in relation to burglaries at:

—Taj Mahal, 7104 Hull Street Road, on July 19.
—Raceway, 1900 W. Hundred Road, on July 20.
—Boulevard Flowers, 2100 Ruffin Mill Road, on July 22.
—Southshore Exxon, 14100 Hull Street Road on July 24.
—Shell station at 11440 W. Huguenot Road on July 30.

David Estes has been charged in relation to the burglary at Boulevard Flowers and a July 11 burglary at the Nash Mart at 1740 E. Hundred Road.

Wayne Cherry has been charged in relation to the burglaries at Southshore Exxon and the Shell station.

In each burglary, suspects smashed a glass door at the business and took cash registers or cash drawers from inside.

Steven Thompson and David Estes were served with three warrants each in Hopewell for Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Conspiracy to commit Burglary. The three suspects face a total of 18 charges in Chesterfield.

Police believe the suspects may be involved in additional incidents in Chesterfield and in surrounding jurisdictions. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

Steven Thompson is currently being held in the City of Richmond jail, and David Estes is being held in the Chesterfield County jail.
