No jail time for Chesterfield bus driver who had sex with student | News

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- A former Chesterfield bus driver convicted of having sex with a student will not spend any time in jail.

41-year-old Tracy Allanson was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty earlier this year to taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Allanson never made contact with her victim, Charles Seymour, in court. Seymour watched as his former lover, who's nearly three times his senior, was sentenced to indefinite probation.

The affair started when he was just 15 years old. Seymour is now 18, but his mother says the damage has been done.

"It's changed my son," said Diane Bingham. "It's taken his innocence away. It's taken his childhood away. He's not able to be a normal child at this time."

In court, the married mother of two turned sex offender apologized for her actions, but Bingham says she can't forgive Allanson.

"It's devastating to know that someone my age could do that to a child."

Allanson had performed oral sex on the teen and even changed her email address to "Tracy Seymour," taking the teenager's last name.

But the judge says that will be the last time Allanson will contact Seymour ever again. Still, the prosecutor and the victim's mother says: the sentence isn't good enough.

"I would have like to have seen her get 5 years," said Bingham.

"I recommended that the judge give her jail time, but he followed the sentencing guidelines and sometimes that works in our favor and sometimes it doesn't. And this time it didn't," said prosecutor Duncan Minton.

As for Charles Seymour, his mother says he and the family will continue to heal.

For Allanson, in addition to the indefinite probation and not being able to contact her victim, she will also appear on Virginia's sex offender registry.
