CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- A man is in police custody after he shot at an attorney following a child custody hearing at the Chesterfield courthouse Thursday.
41-year-old Mark Lowe went to the attorney's office at 9401 Courthouse Road across from the Chesterfield courthouse around 1:30 p.m. and fired one shot at the attorney, police said.
No one was hit by the shot, however crews treated the lawyer and another person for minor injuries suffered when they fell as they tried to run away from the area.
An off-duty Virginia Capitol Police officer and a Chesterfield County police lieutenant in plainclothes who happened to be nearby quickly disarmed and arrested Lowe.
The man had a child custody hearing earlier Thursday, according to police.
Lowe has been charged with attempted murder, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
He is being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond pending a hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court on Friday.
