Police break up fight on VSU campus, five arrested
News

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – Five people have been arrested following a series of fights on the Virginia State University campus Friday night.

A campus spokesperson confirms to NBC12 that VSU Police were forced to use pepper spray to clear the Daniel Gymnasium around midnight. Once outside, police instructed students to return to their dorms and for everyone else to leave the scene.

We're told approximately 1,600 people turned out for the school's "Gym Jam" event.

Four of the five people arrested were VSU students. All have been charged with disorderly conduct. One of the five is also facing charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.
