COUNTY TAKES BACK 365 POUNDS OF MEDICATION

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA The Chesterfield County Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />SAFE, Chesterfield's substance abuse prevention coalition, helped residents safely dispose of more than 350 pounds of expired and unneeded prescription and over-the-counter drugs Saturday.

Chesterfield County hosted a Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 29. During the four-hour event at the Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center, police, DEA agents and SAFE volunteers collected 365 pounds of unused, unwanted and potentially harmful drugs.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the July 29 robbery of the Bank of McKenney branch at 6300 River Road.

Police said a man approached a teller at about 1:20 p.m. on Friday, July 29, and passed a note demanding money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving the scene in the grey, older model sedan. No weapon was displayed during the incident, and no one was injured.

On July 29, police obtained a warrant for robbery for Robert D. Campbell, of no permanent address, in relation to the incident. Police, working closely with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, took Campbell into custody on Thursday, Aug. 18, in Littleton, N.C.

Chesterfield police seek Omega Meats robbery suspect

Police are seeking a man who robbed the Omega Meats location at 16027 Continental Boulevard on Monday, Aug. 1.

At about 8 a.m., the victim entered his office and an unknown suspect stepped out from behind the office door and closed it. The suspect assaulted the victim, took cash and other items, and left through the front door.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 35 years old and 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and weighing about 235 pounds. He is heavyset, with a thin goatee and dreadlocks, and was wearing dark shorts, a grey T-shirt and black shoes.

Chesterfield police seek Meadowdale robbery suspects

Police are seeking four men who attempted to rob four victims in the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard on Friday, July 15.

The four victims, all male, were standing outside an apartment when they were approached by four males who demanded money. Two of the suspects displayed handguns. A scuffle ensued, and several shots were fired. Two of the victims were grazed by bullets, but were not seriously injured. The suspects fled on foot.

All four suspects were tall, thin black males with short hair; they appeared to be in their 20s. The first suspect was wearing a white, polo-style shirt and dark colored pants. The second suspect was wearing a red shirt. The third suspect was wearing a dark colored shirt.

Police step up traffic enforcement for holiday weekend

Police will conduct an increased number of holiday DUI patrols, checkpoints and aggressive driver enforcement operations throughout the county this Fourth of July weekend.

         Chesterfield Police are participating in the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign in conjunction with their Drive to Arrive traffic safety program. Drive to Arrive does it all by targeting key traffic safety elements, such as drunken driving, aggressive driving, speeding and red light and seatbelt violators.

It is estimated that more than 400 people will die in vehicle crashes in the United States this Fourth of July weekend, and half of these deaths will be alcohol related. In an effort to make the deadliest holiday weekend on the roads the safest, heightened enforcement begins Friday and continues into early Tuesday morning.

Chesterfield County Police have charged a Charlottesville man with carnal knowledge of a child 13-15 years old and use of a communications device to solicit sex.

Store owner charged with Spice distribution

Store owner charged with Spice distribution

Police have arrested the owner of the Raceway Gas Station at 1900 West Hundred Road for distributing Spice, a type of synthetic marijuana, which was recently banned in Virginia.

Q. Tanveer Mian was arrested and charged with distribution of synthetic marijuana, a Schedule I drug, after he sold the product to an undercover detective. Police say they executed a search warrant on May 3 that resulted in the recovery of additional Spice that remained in the store. Mian was released on bond.
