The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a series of workshops in February and March designed to help Boy and Girl Scouts earn various badges. All programs will meet at the Chesterfield County Museum, 6813 Mimms Loop, unless otherwise noted. For more information, call 751-4946. Know Your Home and Community (Wolf)
Saturday, Feb. 12, 10 a.m.-noon
This program is geared for Cub Scouts aged 8 who are pursuing their Wolf Badge requirements for this track. Learn about the history of our area and visit the County Museum. $10/ scout.
Girl Scout Lore Workshop
Saturday, Feb. 12, 2-4 p.m.
This program is designed for girls aged 7-10 who are working on completing their requirements for this badge. Learn how communities change over time, study maps and photos of the area, tour the Courthouse Green and visit the County Museum. Badge not included with the cost of the program. $10/ scout.
What Makes America Special (Bear)
Saturday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m.-noon
This program is geared for Cub Scouts aged 9 who are pursuing their Bear Badge. Learn about people and places that are historically significant, both locally and nationally. $10/ scout.
Boy Scouts American Heritage
Saturday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m.-noon
This program is designed for Boy Scouts aged 11-14 looking to fulfill their badge requirements addressing history and cultural heritage. Badge not included with the cost of the program. $10/scout.
Webelos Geologist Activity Pin Workshop
Saturday, March 5, 2-4 p.m. (course 21380) or Saturday, March 26, 2-4 p.m. (course 21381)
This program is designed for Cub Scouts aged 9-10 looking to complete the requirements for their Geologist Activity Pin, and will focus on geology and rock formations. Please note: this course meets at Midlothian Mines Park, 13301 N. Woolridge Rd. Preregistration is required. Call 748-1623 to register. $10/scout.
