RICHMOND, VA  - Richmond City students captured 14 awards, including five first-place honors, at this year’s Virginia State Fair Art Show.

The five students who won top honors are: Jasmine Barron, Open High, block print; Kameron Holzclaw, John Marshall High, foam print; Jakiera Ragland, Oak Grove Elementary, foam print; Markeith Ramsome, Thompson Middle, pastel drawing; and Brittany Patterson, Thomas Jefferson High, intaglio print.

Richmond City students who captured second-place awards include: Nichelle Chalmers, Thomas Jefferson High, intaglio print; Anita Davis, Richmond Community High, watercolor; Leequesha Miles, Armstrong High, block print; Dean Pope, Armstrong High, sculpture; and Stuart Shepard, Open High, foam print.

Two other Richmond City students won third-place honors. Seyla Hossaini from Albert Hill Middle was recognized in watercolor, and Marquise McLean from Oak Grove Elementary captured third in sculpture.

Teachers of the award-winning students include: Lauren Cifranic, Thomas Jefferson High; Terry Dove, Thompson Middle; Karla Evans, Oak Grove; Elka Graciano, Richmond Community High; Cristian Koshock, Armstrong High; Brigette Newberry, Open High; Lauren Pendergrass, Armstrong High; Sharon Russell, Albert Hill Middle; and Meredith Spencer, John Marshall High.
