RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -We traveled south of Richmond to highlight Steel Horse Bar and Grille in Chester as this week’s Neighborhood Hot Spot. Let’s find out why folks here say this place is the best kept secret in town.

Steel Horse Bar and Grille is a locally owned restaurant that's fairly new to the Chester community. It has only been open a little more than a year, and already it’s known as a local favorite.

“It’s kind of cozy and homey,” said Sean Flynn.

“There’s a lot to do and it’s close to home,” said Sophia Bradham.

Most folks say the first criteria when considering a restaurant is good food. However, folks in Chester said they gather here because this community hot spot offers more than just good food, but something new and unique.

“A little bit of chicken fried, cold beer on a Saturday night,” sang Rich Moore, a retired U.S. Army musician and a regular at Steel Horse.

Tonight is open mic night, but this is just one of the many events of the week.

“They have football, game time, they have open mic, which I like to do, they have karaoke, they have live music, so it’s always kind of...happening,” said Sophia Bradham.

Lee Standard, the house magician at Steel Horse said he's not surprised that folks flock here.

“If you want to be seen and see it, really it is, it’s a fun place and there’s always something going on at the Steel Horse,” said Standard.

“It’s good country people and good city people having fun together,” said Charles Blackburn.
