Business re-bounding for area home builders

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- If you're in the market for a new home, the economy may be working in your favor. Area builders say business is on the rise again and they're getting more permits for new homes than they have in years.

If the housing market is any indicator of the strength of the economy, all signs point to progress in Central Virginia.

Meredith Wilson couldn't be happier. She just closed on her new Moseley home Wednesday.

"It feels amazing….organizing everything coming at once, all the deliveries and everything," she said.

Wilson is one of a growing number of new homeowners taking advantage of what developers describe as a housing market on the rise.

"It's really become evident that the market is coming back," says Vernon McClure with Main Street Home.

The center has a number of popular events, like fitness classes, luncheons, bingo, and dancing. Right now, they're operating out of a church sanctuary- renting the space during the week.
