Kirkpatrick, of the 5700 block of Harbour Ridge Road, was arrested Tuesday and charged with unauthorized filming of another and assault. He was released on bond pending a hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court.

Chesterfield mom pushes Epipens in Washington D.C.

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- A Chesterfield mom is taking her fight for Epipens in schools to Washington D.C. She's pushing for legislation to put Epipens in schools nationwide.

Laura Pendleton lost her seven-year-old daughter, Amarria Johnson, after she ate a peanut at Hopkins Elementary School in Chesterfield. She went into anaphylactic shock and then went into cardiac arrest.

Ammaria's death has sparked a series of reforms both at the state and local level. Now Ammaria's mother is taking her fight nationwide. She will testify in Washington about federal legislation to get Epipens in all schools across the country.

Pendleton was instrumental in the effort to pass a bill here in Virginia to require Epipens at all schools.

Governor Bob McDonnell signed that bill into law a few weeks ago. It goes into effect July first.

Eight new schools possible under Chesterfield plan

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- There are some big changes that could be on the way for Chesterfield County Schools. The school district could be expanding to keep up with the population growth.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, eight new schools could be built and 23 schools could be revitalized or replaced under this new plan.

This plan is for the next 20 years and doesn't have a price tag yet.

The county is projecting its population will grow by almost 50% to nearly half a million people by 2035.

This plan would add three high schools, two middle schools, and three elementary schools to keep up all of these added students. The Times-Dispatch says the school board still needs to formally endorse a plan.

A first draft will be take up by the planning commission next week. Right now there are few details about the cost and location of these new schools, but school officials say it would come at a big price tag.

Pizzeria staff was forced naked into freezer

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- Armed robbers forced the staff of a Chesterfield pizzeria to get completely naked and into a freezer. The humiliating hold up happened Monday night at Zeytin Pizza off Midlothian Turnpike. Even though the owner was vulnerable and completely stripped of his clothes, he didn't back down easily.

The demeaning hold up wasn't anything the store's owner, an immigrant from Turkey, had expected when opening a business in America. He asked that his identity remain concealed. The owner said the two robbers entered the store before 7 p.m. and ordered pizza. Then, one of them brandished a weapon.

"He just put his hand in back (of himself) and (pulled out) a gun," said the owner.

The robbers demanded the owner and his chef to undress. The two were forced, naked, into the walk-in freezer. The owner's wife exited the bathroom, and was taken at knife point.

Chesterfield woman found guilty in bus stop assault

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- A Chesterfield woman found guilty this afternoon of pulling a gun at a school bus stop -- is out of jail. 33-year-old Susan Desantiago was convicted of brandishing a firearm, and assault and battery. She was taken into custody immediately, but has since been released.

Her attorney says he has already filed an appeal to the verdict. Until then, Mrs. Desantiago is back at home. The trial lasted just under 2 hours. In all, 6 witnesses testified.

Desantiago bowed her head and cried as the verdict came down. She claims she feared for her life and pulled a gun in self defense, but a judge disagreed -- finding her guilty on all charges.

Susan Desantiago walked into court Tuesday with her head held high. During testimony she spoke softly about what she says happened on March 12 -- in the 6400 block of Fairpines Road in Chesterfield.

Blood drive honors 3 Manchester students

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT)- A community will remember three Manchester High School students through a blood drive Monday.

The response from the community was so overwhelming an extra blood mobile is going to be brought in just to keep up with all the people expected to donate.

Avery Spence and Gage Edwards were killed in separate car crashes and Lauren Tuck died in her sleep after falling off a bunk bed. Their families say they share a common devotion to helping others.

Virginia Blood Services expected 50 donors, but well over 150 have signed up and extra staff is being called in to help.

The blood drive is from noon to 8 p.m. at Kids R Kids Learning Academy at 6761 Temie Lee Parkway in Midlothian.

Walk-ins are welcome.
